A Better Future

To better support members by helping to educate and train tomorrow’s technicians today, SCALT’s scholarship program is designed to advance the Licensed Trades Industry.  Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis to students pursuing a career as a licensed contractor.

SCALT recently awarded Wesley Richburg with a $500 scholarship to continue his HVAC training. Richburg attends Central Carolina Technical College in Sumter, where he is enrolled in the Basic Air Conditioning and Heating Certificate program. At the time of his application, Richburg had completed one semester of coursework and was in the midst of his second semester. A loss of financial aid jeopardized Richburg’s ability to complete his education training without interruption.

SCALT member Chris Watkins recommended Richburg for the scholarship, stating “he has been an excellent student.” According to Watkins, the SCALT scholarship is allowing Richburg to complete his education and career goals.

To apply for a scholarship, each student must provide:

(1) a letter of recommendation from a member of the association (preferably a contractor member),
(2) a copy of the student’s most recent grades,
(3) a paragraph from the student regarding his or her need for the scholarship, and
(4) a completed application provided from the association.
